Romeo y Julieta

Romeo y Julieta

in collaboration with Stefan Bohnenberger. wood, lenses, electronics, single channel audio. 20 x 15 x 6cm, 20 secs.

First in the series of “very small cinemas” (ganz kleines Kino) in collaboration with Brussels artist Stefan Bohnenberger. this cigar box contains a 6 frame film with 20 second sound track depicting the death scene from Romeo and Juliet, wherein Juliet stabs herself (“I am thy sheath, rust here and let me die”). Perhaps the shortest film in the world, in the smallest cinema ever. Paradoxically, when one views it through the eyepiece it appears immense, as if one were sitting in a full size theatre.
